RBMVE Biographical Note: Ansel Franklin Hall was the Director of the RBMVE. Aside from his work with RBMVE and other programs, Hall was the Chief of the Field Division of Education for National Park Service, eventually leaving this role to run a family concessions business at Mesa Verde National Park.
Scope and Content: This repository has a significant collection of film reels from the RBMVE, some of which were digitized in 2019. There is also a set of lantern slides depicting images from RBMVE made and used by Hall for fundraising and education. Lastly, a significant amount of manuscript material (approximately 28 boxes) from Ansel Hall’s personal records was donated in 2017 or 2018 and is currently being processed. This significant body of material gives insight into the work behind RBMVE, accomplishments in the field, hardships, and Hall’s commitment to realizing his vision.
Container List or Summary of RBMVE-related Material: This material includes film reels, lantern slides, administrative records, photographs, moving image records, newspaper clippings, correspondence, financial records, circulars, unpublished reports, catalogs of collected materials, manuscripts, publicity materials, and other documentation.
