Virtual Storytelling
Seven performers will join us from their respective homes to read sections from personal diaries or tell personal and community histories relating to the historic 1930’s Rainbow Bridge-Monument Valley Expedition. The readings include diary entries written by photographer/geology assistant, Lloyd Lowrey, read by his son, Tim Lowrey. Charlie Littlesalt and Lithuania Denetso, son and granddaughter of Max Littlesalt, a guide and interpreter for the Expedition, will read from the newly released, online animated, Max Littlesalt: A Graphic Biography, created from family oral histories by Shea Hueston and Samantha Hasani. Our hosts are CEO and Director of The ONWARD Project Elizabeth Kahn and Tony Palermo, a radio dramatist, director and sound effects-pert.
An Online Auction
The Online Auction part of the event will be open to the public for bidding one week before the event, on August 9th at noon. We will send you an email announcement with the Online Auction site link to browse and bid on our unique and eclectic auction items.
The Online Auction will end at the conclusion of the Virtual Storytelling and Auction Event on August 16. During the week prior to the event, auction items will be available online to browse and to submit bids. Selections include two hand-made Navajo rugs; unique behind-the-scenes tours (we are offering each as a virtual experience with lunch on us); a gift card to a well-known LA restaurant (don’t worry you can still do take-out!); handmade jewelry, including necklaces created in the Japanese Kumihimo style; art; and much more.
All Online Auction transactions/shipping information, etc will be done through the auction website.
Although I know we would all prefer being together, to sit in person to hear all of these distinctive stories, and see the auction items up close, we know that this is not possible now. However, we are excited to bring you these very special selections online with the hope that the performers and the written words they speak will inspire you and give you an intimate look at the past brought into the present.
